Professor Caron Martin has been teaching at NKU for 20 years. Caron graduated from UK in 1978. Caron originally taught in the second level of the associate degree program and has taught in the BSN program since its inception. In the BSN program, Caron has taught pharmacology, pathopharmacology, clinical reasoning courses, introductory and advanced medical surgical courses. Caron was chair of the admission committee for many years. Caron still works for St. Elizabeth Healthcare in their cath lab. Prior to that, she worked in open heart recovery for 25 years. She spends her off time with her husband Ken of 39 years, her three daughters and sons in law, and 7 grandchildren. One student wrote the following about Caron "Professor Martin has a wealth of knowledge and is great at breaking difficult concepts down when teaching. She is also caring and willing to take time to explain information to students. If I was on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and the question was nursing related, I would phone Professor Martin every time. I have learned so much in the courses I have taken with Professor Martin, and I am thankful to have her as a professor. Professor Martin is a role model as a practicing RN and in nursing education, I aspire to be like her one day. Another student wrote the following: "Caron always demonstrates understanding, calming demeanors and has a true dedication and care for her students. She always takes time to answer questions and always says There is never a dumb question. I am so thankful to have her as a professor and for her kind and gentle spirit. Congratulations Professor Martin for being selected as the recipient of the DAISY Faculty Award.
