I would like to recognize Carrie Coronado. She has a great heart that shows caring and professionalism in all she does. She is a great communicator and person that shows wonderful compassion in all her actions. She made a stressful time bearable and helped the patient and family member feel at ease. She truly cares about her patients and goes above and beyond to keep them comfortable.
At the end of her shift, Mrs. Coronado found an elderly couple sitting in the lobby at Brandon Healthplex. The husband was seen around 1:00 pm for an acute visit. The couple missed their HART transportation and they were told they couldn't come back to get them. The patient needed assistance with his wheelchair, as he's unable to walk or stand. Carrie immediately and without hesitation called Medicare, called cab services, and UHC services. However, the drivers were dispatched for the day and no one had wheelchair accessibility. Carrie then went to check with the social worker from the Emergency Department and was able to get in contact with Americare. She set up an ambulance service for the patient. The couple returned home around 7:00 pm and she stood by their side until the ambulance came to pick up the couple.
Carrie is an amazing nurse for TGH and always shows professionalism, compassion, and goes above and beyond for her patients.
