Carrie has been described by a staff member as one "who brings a bright light with her in every room that she enters, and can get any patient to smile and laugh, no matter how they feel."
There is one situation, among many, that was described by a family member who nominated Carrie. Not only a family member but an employee here, she relates the story that Carrie made her grandfather feel that he was the only patient that mattered.
The day that this patient was to go home, Carrie went into his room to say goodbye but found that he was sleeping, so she wrote a letter to him. The letter stated that she did not want him to leave without saying "some sort of see-you-later," and continued by saying that she hoped he enjoyed all of his time left with his family and that he had left a big impression on her and other staff at BH. The family of this patient has held on to that letter and had it displayed at his memorial service.
In the words of our employee who nominated Carrie, "It's so comforting to know that we have such caring and awesome people like Carrie Cressy here at BH! We need to have more people in the world like her."
