Professor MacLeod turned me from a scared, insecure nursing student into someone who is open to making any experience a learning opportunity without the fear of failure. Throughout my ICU Clinical Rotation, the Elliot Hospital ICU flooded, making it impossible for our group to perform about 3 of our 10 clinicals. Professor MacLeod sacrificed much of her time to find ways for us to still get an ICU experience. She reached out to multiple people to get us time in the lab to practice different clinical situations. She was always available for questions and was able to teach in a way that made sense for everyone involved and would explain it a different way if someone did not understand. She offered to go to the hospital on Saturdays so we could get a better understanding of the ICU environment.

Prior to this clinical rotation, I was told I was behind and was “doing things I should not be doing at this point in my nursing student career.” Professor MacLeod not only was able to get me to a point where I was considered advanced at that point in my student nursing career, but she changed the way I thought of myself in a positive way. She made me believe in myself like no other person has. Professor MacLeod should be recognized for all the amazing work she has put into the Saint Anselm College nursing program, her students, and her own career. Professor MacLeod always goes above and beyond for her students and she actively participates in making this program better for the students. There are so many instances in which she has advocated for the students and looked out for us inside and outside of the classroom that one situation would be an understatement of how much she really cares for us. She is someone that was a constant figure that I looked up to. She is someone who was so smart and so caring and provided me with so much knowledge during my critical care rotation. I feel so grateful to have had a chance to learn from one of the best.
