After she explained the help we could receive, we agreed to it, and that service has been an absolute blessing to me and my family.
My daughter has a very, very rare form of epilepsy called FENIB, that no one knows anything about. She is only 20 years old. It is a heartbreaking disease, and it is progressive. When we brought her to the ER, her arm was shaking uncontrollably and it wouldn't stop. She had two bad seizures within 24 hours. The last two days that we spent in the extended stay ER, we had Carrie and A as nurses. They were so caring and loving to our daughter, and my daughter responded well to them. Our daughter, O, hates needles and has lots of anxiety about needles and even having her blood pressure taken. Her disease is much like dementia so she would often talk out about random things. However, Carrie and A both carried on with her and made her laugh and made her feel comfortable. As a mother in a very sad situation, this type of care was much appreciated. My daughter had really digressed within the past six months. Her condition has caused her to lose life skills. She requires full-time care. We recently had to hire caregivers to stay with her each day while my husband and I work. When I would get home from work, it was very tiring for me to help O shower, etc. Carrie mentioned to us about Hospice/Home health. I fell apart when I heard the word Hospice because I had no idea what it really entailed. I only associated the word hospice with death was very near. After she explained the help we could receive, we agreed to it, and that service has been an absolute blessing to me and my family. Had she not mentioned that to me, I would have had no idea that it was available to us. I thank God often that these two nurses were brought into our lives. All the doctors that we interacted with during our stay were wonderful as well. I was very impressed. In a stressful time, it was nice to know that there are still caring and genuine people in the world.
