If it wasn't for Carrie's quick thinking, my daughter would have gone into a coma.
Carrie is a kind and compassionate nurse and works the night shift at LTACH. My daughter, A, is recovering at LTACH from a fall she had and ended up having surgery from a severe brain bleed and fracture on her skull. After 1 week in Neuro ICU, my daughter was moved to LTACH.
I would like to especially nominate and credit Nurse Carrie Shrock, for taking such wonderful care of my daughter. She actually saved my daughter's life one day when A was slurring in speech, sweating around her lips and then eventually not responding, staring into space with very dilated pupils. Also, she said A's limbs were limp. Anyway, the doctors were called and a CT scan was ordered right away to rule out anything going on from the head trauma. The CT scan was OK, so with Carrie's quick thinking, she thought of maybe A's sugar was low. They did a test and A's sugar was dangerously low at "18". They immediately put her on dextrose through an IV and thankfully A came out of it. If it wasn't for Carrie's quick thinking, my daughter would have gone into a coma. Another nurse who I talked to on the phone that morning also credited Carrie for her quick thinking that it be low blood sugar. I am so thankful and appreciative to Carrie Shrock for saving my daughter's life.
