She would sit and talk with me, make me feel as comfortable as possible and talk me through everything putting my mind at ease that my baby was okay.
Carrie, who has been at JMH for 19 years, is a day shift charge nurse in the Maternity Care Center. She is on the JMH Nursing Education Council and is a project lead with Indiana's Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health. Here is what a patient said about Carrie when nominating her for The DAISY Award: "Carrie was first my nurse when I was seven months pregnant and hospitalized for COVID. No one could be with me so I was afraid, alone and anxious. She had to come in at certain times throughout her shift to monitor my baby. She would sit and talk with me, make me feel as comfortable as possible and talk me through everything putting my mind at ease that my baby was okay. Once I went into labor a couple of months later, I had her during my induction. She again sat with me and talked me through everything and went out of her way to get me anything I needed, which helped ease my anxiety about giving birth."
