Carswella Phillips, DNP, MSN, APRN, AGPCNP-BC, CNE

Dr. Phillips provides for the personal and educational needs for many students without favoritism. Dr. Phillips shows compassion toward her students by encouraging them to not only reach their goals but exceed them. One student noted, “her encouragement prompted me to continue my education in nursing beyond a bachelor’s degree.” Dr. Phillips has made an extraordinary impression on nursing students in the Bachelor of Science in the nursing program. She is extremely knowledgeable in medical-surgical and advanced Medical-Surgical nursing and demonstrates excellence every day. She serves as a role model by sharing her personal experience as a clinical nurse, her availability to students for the best learning, and informative and entertaining lectures. The material in Medical-Surgical nursing is not easily understood by nursing students; however, Dr. Phillips incorporates multiple learning strategies to engage all nursing students. Phillips certainly deserves the DAISY Award. She demonstrates a commitment to the vision of FAMU School of Nursing, excellence, and compassion for patients, families, colleagues, and students.
