I would like to nominate my infusion nurse: Mr. Carter McLaughlin RN, for this award, due to his outstanding care and service. I am a disabled, rare disease patient with many co-morbidities and frequent complications. I nominate this nurse with enormous gratitude for his skills, expertise, and dedication to quality of care. Of all the countless (and wonderful!) nurses who’ve provided care for me throughout my entire life, Mr. McLaughlin stands out amongst others as exceptional in multiple ways. Though I am often a complex patient, Mr. McLaughlin is unfailingly kind, respectful, and reassuring (to both myself and other caregivers); he remains calm and optimistic in all circumstances, and makes a patient feel genuinely cared for (felt by family as well; this is something that provides a patient and their relatives with so much support and relief, especially during a time where for a rare disease patient this kind of care often feels difficult to find in a medical professional. Mr. McLaughlin puts the ‘care’ back into healthcare. Where others are often frustrated by my complications, Nurse McLaughlin maintains an incredibly professional, supportive and positive bedside manner). He is dedicated and consistent in providing outstanding service, even in the face of obstacles or unexpected symptoms. He is informative, providing helpful educational advice, guidance, and resources for myself and my family regarding further information on my conditions, as well as education about treatments and how to best care for myself at home. I greatly appreciate the way Nurse McLaughlin explains the process of my infusion treatment throughout, as well as the effort he makes to educate my family caregivers.

Also notable is the way Mr. McLaughlin takes it upon himself to learn more about his patient’s rarer conditions; he listens attentively, making a patient feel heard and understood; and addresses both my and my family’s questions or concerns. Though I am often rife with unexpected complications or side effects, Nurse McLaughlin carries out his work efficiently despite, undeterred while still addressing any problems/symptoms as they occur. Where others have often struggled to get my IV’s started, Nurse McLaughlin- more often than not- slips it right in on the first try… though I am used to being poked, this is something I vastly appreciate (having won “pincushion awards” with previous infusions)!

I am incredibly grateful to this company and to this nurse for outstanding care during this difficult time for me. I would highly recommend Mr. Carter McLaughlin RN, as an amazing nurse for anyone, and I would be so very honored if this nomination serves to award this nurse with the recognition he much deserves for his amazing nursing skills, (approved of by my mother who is a nurse of 40+ years experience, now finally retired!), his dedication to providing quality, caring medical care, and for the gratitude I and my family have for the consistency and quality of his professional skills and care.
