Carter Terry, RN

As an employee of Nebraska Medicine, I always see the hospital side of Extraordinary Care being delivered to patients. I was able to experience extraordinary care as a patient in the Emergency Department at Bellevue due to the wonderful care provided to me by RN Carter Terry. I was in an extreme amount of pain, and he was not only on top of medications to calm the pain, but he also checked in frequently and offered various other ways to make me more comfortable during my time in the ED. He communicated every step that was happening while I was there and was a great source of comfort.

When a patient goes into the ED, Carter is the kind of nurse they want to have. I was admitted and had surgery, which could have been a terrifying experience, but it was not because my stay at BMC started with calming care provided by Carter. He definitely works in the right department since he makes a patient's initial impression of BMC an excellent one. His manager and patients are very lucky to have him. In my four years of working at Nebraska Medicine, I have never nominated a nurse for a DAISY Award, but after experiencing Carter's care as a patient, I had no choice but to recognize him for going above and beyond in my experience.
