Caryn Clinton is one of our best nurses in the emergency department. She goes above and beyond to support the team and consistently provides commendable patient care. One day, as Caryn was giving the end of shift report, she overheard some issues going on in a different patient's room that was being cared for by a newer nurse. Caryn took it upon herself to assess the situation and intervened on behalf of this critically ill patient.
Caryn worked with the patient's nurse and transport team to stabilize the patient prior to transfer to a higher level of care. Caryn not only took the time help without being told but mentored the newer nurse while doing so. Caryn ended up staying 2 hours over her shift to ensure the best outcome for this patient and provide team support. She made a difference that day and continually puts the patients first. This situation demonstrates Caryn's selfless attitude and is an example of what a DAISY Nurse should be.
