I want to report about the good and compassionate care our staff provides at BMC. An undocumented individual without any payer source remains on comfort care due to poor prognosis. She was discharged home for hospice care. Caryn and I took care of the patient and family at home. The patient passed away at home peacefully surrounded by friends and family. Caryn was so compassionate. She went above and beyond to care for the patient and family.

Caryn is a deeply caring, compassionate and skilled nurse. Last evening a patient was rushed by his wife to the MOB waiting area shouting that the patient is bleeding. The patient was mistakenly dropped off at MOB rather than the Emergency Department. Caryn rushed out to the waiting area (of course with a box of gloves and blood pressure cuff) without any hesitation and on the way asked me to join her. We realized the patient was in severe pain possibly due to renal calculi and that the bleeding was hematuria. Without any delay, Caryn got a wheelchair and promptly moved the patient to the ED from the MOB. The event touched me more because I know Caryn has a sick mother-in-law at home and rather than ignoring the help call, she went beyond her call of duty to deliver high-quality patient care. Caryn is truly a caring and compassionate nurse who is a great role model.
