During my wife's stay all the doctors, nurses, and CNAs gave her excellent care. There was one nurse, Casandra Antonelli, who exceeded our expectations. In my mind, what makes for a great doctor or nurse is what I call having both head and heart. I would suggest that any doctor or nurse who works at Kent is qualified and knowledgeable to take care of their patients. What makes the great ones is their capacity to perform their duties with concern and compassion. In all my 75 years, I have never met a nurse with more compassion and concern for their patient than Casandra. Whatever my wife needed, Casandra was there all the time with a smile on her face and words of encouragement. One example that stands out is that of Casandra, who, if I'm not mistaken, did three twelve-hour shifts in a row from Thursday to Saturday. When I saw her Saturday before I left, we spoke, and I could see she was exhausted. Sunday morning, ON HER DAY OFF, she came to the hospital, walked into my wife’s room with a smile on her face and a beautiful arrangement of flowers. How many nurses do you know that would have done that? If there is a nurse who deserves the DAISY Award, it would have to be Casandra. With so many nurses in the hospital, you should feel overwhelmingly proud to have her on your staff!
