Casandra saved her patient's life. Her patient was intubated and sedated. Upon thorough and early assessment, she was able to notice that the patient was not moving his right side like he was doing yesterday when she left her shift. Casandra instantly called a code stroke and advocated for her patient to get down for a CT scan. The patient was positive for an ischemic stroke and was immediately transferred to another campus for prompt urgent care. Casandra advocated for her patient and led by example of how imperative it is to assess our patients' thoroughly and anticipate the patient's needs.
The nurse who nominated Cassandra said, "I was impressed, and I want to acknowledge her for saving her patient's life and being a true leader for the nursing profession."
