Interventional Radiology was consulted to convert a previously placed Gastric tube to a Gastro Jejunal tube due to gastroparesis. Subsequently, this G J tube was clogged and had been exchanged three times within a two-week period. The patient's wife called in again two days later, stating the tube was clogged again. Casey Bilanovic has fielded calls from the patient's wife, who has been crying and completely overwhelmed with dealing with this tube clogging. She has made calls to the patient's surgeon, GI group, Home Health, and PCP, trying to get someone to step up and get the feedings adjusted. Casey has gone above and beyond on multiple occasions, providing education to the patient's wife on tube care, troubleshooting, and flushing post-feedings. She has been relentless in making sure this patient's care doesn't fall through the cracks. This story, along with many other instances, makes Casey a true DAISY Nurse.
