Casey is consistently helpful, fair, level-headed, and calm during a crisis. She goes above and beyond for our patients, including offering her translation abilities and individualized discharge instructions for a refugee family from the Congo. Casey drew upon her experiences during her 2 year service in the Peace Corps stationed in Africa to anticipate and meet the needs of this family. Casey spent a majority of her shift offering her interpretive services to the doctors and nursing staff to make sure the family was well informed. Casey came back to the hospital 4 hours after her shift ended to assist with the very complicated discharge. She spent over 2 hours with the family going over the discharge instructions, having the family demonstrate the dressing changes and even drawing pictures so the family would remember to give the medications at the appropriate times.
