My partner, K, had a left anterior total hip replacement done at Southern Joint Surgery Center in Nashville, TN. From the moment K was taken back by her nurse, Casey Davis, to the moment we walked out the door and even through the follow-up call from her the day after K’s surgery, she was nothing short of absolutely exceptional. Her level of compassion and caring, and her bedside manner, are far superior to most any nurse we’ve encountered in the healthcare profession. You can tell, in everything she does, how much she LOVES her work and how passionate she is about caring for others and making sure they feel heard, understood, and loved, really. She answered every question that we had (and we had A LOT of them. A LOT) with complete clarity, knowledge, and confidence. She explained everything to us in great detail, calmed our nerves, and made us feel so at ease with what was going on, what would be happening, and what it would be like afterwards. She took as much time as we needed to go through things, she repeated things, she comforted us, she made us laugh, she took care of not only the patient, but me, as the caregiver, as well. And that speaks volumes to the kind of person and nurse Casey is. She made sure I was comfortable and prepared for what the following weeks of care would look like, what I needed to be prepared to do, and even how to do those things without fear. If I were in the medical profession, I would tell Southern Joint Surgery Institute to WATCH OUT, because I would hire Casey in less than a minute. She’s the consummate professional and literally one of the very best nurses we’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. If you’re a facility or a doctor, she’s the one you want on your team, for yourself, your patients, their caregivers, their families, and even your fellow employees. A video of her taking care of a patient, pre and post op, should be watched, as an example, by every nursing student in the country. If she doesn’t deserve this DAISY Award, you couldn’t convince me that anyone else on the PLANET does. Believe me when I say, she’s something special, and she should one million percent be recognized and applauded for it.
