I felt like someone finally understood how I was feeling. It changed everything for me.
My first cocktail of Chemo was harsh, and I was feeling horrible; even with the pressure and guilt from my family to continue, I decided not to return. When I called Casey to tell her my decision, she said these words to me. "Sometimes the cure is worse than the disease." Now, I'm sure this is something a lot of nurses say, but I felt like someone finally understood how I was feeling. It changed everything for me. She encouraged me gently to come back and talk to the doctor about alternative treatment. I then started on Herceptin. I am 16 rounds in, with only 1 to go. I would not have returned to the infusion center if it wasn't for Casey. I have had several conversations with her and always get the feeling that she is right there taking the ride with me. Personally, I think she is excellent at her job. I don't always come in contact with her that much anymore, but when I do, she always takes a moment to say hello and ask how I am doing. I appreciate that time, as I know she is busy. She has a way of uplifting your mood at that second and am always wanting more of her kindness I just love her! Don't lose that one, she is a gem in my mind.

Note: This is Casey's 2nd DAISY Award!
