Casey always brightened up the CCU unit with her beautiful smile and winning personality.

Casey was pulled to Women’s Life Center in July due to a high census of patients and a low nurse staffing issue due to a call in. Casey agreed to take a patient assignment and accepted report on 2 hysterectomy patients. She could have refused or even offered to do other things, but she agreed with a positive attitude. After a while into the shift, she noticed a patient came in for a scheduled procedure. Due to our census and patient acuity, the patient’s procedure kept getting delayed. The patient sat in her room all day waiting and was also unable to eat until after the procedure was completed. The patient was sent home many hours later and told to return early the next morning. Casey agreed to come back to WLC the next day and agreed to take her assignment back. It was not her turn for pull but again, she agreed to do so with a positive attitude.

Casey kept mentioning how it broke her heart that the patient and her mom had to sit here all day and wait without food, and how she was inconvenienced also with having to return the next day. Casey spoke with the WLC Nurse Manager and House Supervisor about the issue. She came up with a plan to make the patient a gift basket from the service recovery box and found some Prisma supplies to give to the patient’s mom as well. The patient's mom spoke Spanish only, so she also printed a card for her in Spanish.

Casey meets all the criteria for a DAISY Nurse! She was a huge help in the department both shifts and was a pleasure to work with.

Casey always brightened up the CCU unit with her beautiful smile and winning personality. She was caring, thoughtful, funny, and very professional in caring for our dad. He thought she was so pretty and wanted to throw her in the back of his truck. But he said no when she asked if he wanted her kids! She also showed us pictures of her family and farm animals, especially the chickens!
