Casie learned her favorite hymns and sang them beautifully at her bedside. Such a beautiful voice was so welcome at such a sensitive time.
We would love for IU Health hospice nurse Casie Lahr to be recognized for the high caliber of knowledge and compassionate care she provided to our beloved wife and mother, "I". From the very first encounter, Casie excelled as a caregiver, educator, and advocate for "I" and our family. She fit right in and immediately earned everyone’s trust and confidence, especially "I’s". Casie was always caring and listened to everyone’s concerns and worries. "I" looked forward to her visits and the opportunity to share what she was feeling and going through. Casie was also helpful in coaching me in caring for Iris and building my confidence to do so.
Whether talking about serious issues or chatting about family and daily life, Casie makes those in her care feel valued and important. She takes time to be present with our family. Casie always listened to our questions, validated our concerns, and patiently guided us through extremely difficult times. Casie was always responsive and supportive with whatever care was needed. In "I’s" final days, Casie learned her favorite hymns and sang them beautifully at her bedside. Such a beautiful voice was so welcome at such a sensitive time. We will always remember Casie for how she made "I" feel and for all the smiles, stories, and songs along the way! Thank you so much Casie for your care for "I" and our family. With knowledge, patience, and grace, you led us through something we had no idea how to go through.
