I answered the call light for the patient around 7:45p who was asking when his dinner tray was coming. The day shift RN, Cassandra, was still here so I asked her. She said there were conflicting diet orders and the kitchen had closed so Cassandra was scrambling trying to get her patient some food. She told me she found a solution--she gave the patient her lunch that she didn't get to eat. She really put the needs of our patient above her own!
