There have been many moments throughout our journey where Cassandra has exceeded expectations, but for the purpose of this award, I'll discuss how she lovingly guided us through one of the scariest days of our lives, when our daughter received her first Mehta cast. We were scared, unprepared, and overwhelmed. I remember sobbing as they passed my daughter to me and the feeling of a cold cast replaced the feeling of her heartbeat against my chest. Without a word being said, Cassandra instantly jumped in and assured me everything was going to be okay. She showed me how to change my daughter's diaper, where to place the moleskin, gave me tips for washing her hair and body, and most importantly changed my state of mind from fear and sadness to confidence and hope. She told us that we could stay until we felt comfortable leaving, and when that time came, she walked us to the parking lot. She was more than a nurse to us that day, she was an angel. Her impact on my family is immeasurable.
