I watched Cassandra care for a patient with dementia who was talking about losing her babies. At that moment, the patient felt like she had lost her babies that very day. Cassandra sat with her and talked with her. The patient was going to be transferred to a hospital in St. Louis and Cassandra was told that the patient had a baby doll at the nursing home that she slept with each night.
Cassandra did everything she could to find a doll for the patient, she looked all over the hospital in every department. She called the nursing home to see if she could come and get the patient's doll to take with her. Finally, she used a towel to make a doll for the patient so that she wouldn't feel so alone. She went above and beyond to try to comfort this patient. The patient took the makeshift doll to St. Louis with her.
I love to 'catch' my coworkers doing awesome things. I want Cassandra to know that she rocks!
