During my last shift, Cassie demonstrated every quality that this award represents. When my patient became tachypneic, and something didn’t seem right, Cassie—who was familiar with the patient’s baseline—immediately helped advocate that there was a real concern. Even while precepting another nurse, she was incredibly helpful, assisting with bloodwork and double-checking medication orders so I could attend to another patient. Because of her support, the patient was able to be quickly and smoothly upgraded to a higher level of care. I truly don’t think the transition would have gone as well without Cassie’s presence and expertise.
