Cassandra Wakefield, RN

Baptist Memorial Hospital Tipton is proud to have Cassandra Wakefield nominated for the DAISY Award. Her coworkers nominated her for her career excellence as a Nurse Educator. Cassandra wears many hats for the Rural Facility to which she has devoted her career. She is a Nurse Educator, a Safety Officer, and our Staff Development Specialist. With a background in ICU, Cassandra is very detail-oriented. Cassandra uses that focus to daily round on front-line staff. Her peers say:

"She rounds daily to find ways she can educate nurses in real-time and always makes the education fun."

"Cassandra always listens and helps troubleshoot ways to improve patient care and get the front-line staff what they need."

"She has a true nursing heart, and she is also a good friend."

Cassandra organized and brought a six-room simulation lab to the facility that all departments use for training, as well as mannequin training with real-time feedback that staff can use as needed to run through simulations to improve patient care. Baptist Memorial Hospital Tipton hopes other nurses are inspired by Cassandra's efforts to improve Nursing Education and look forward to having her as an integral part of the team until we can celebrate her retirement.
