May 2020 Honoree
cassandra washington, RN
I was admitted for a left knee revision on Thursday. On Friday afternoon, I developed severe shortness of breath. I was given oxygen in my room. The shortness of breath continued into the evening. My nurse, Cassandra, became very concerned and felt something was wrong. She had the doctor come to see me and the decision was made to have a CT of my lungs, checking for possible fluid. What they found was I had multiple blood clots in my lungs. When the doctor came to my room to give me the results, he said: "you literally owe Cassandra your life!" I believe I would not be here to write this if it weren't for her alertness and persistence. She is truly my Guardian and is a true DAISY Nurse!
Thank you, Cassandra, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
