Her loving kindness, the dignity she shows in her care, and the trusting, healing relationships she builds are extraordinary.
When I arrived at the emergency room, I was overwhelmed not only with my own medical concerns but with the added weight of having my highly autistic son with me. ER visits can be unpredictable and overstimulating for him, and I was bracing for the worst. But then we met Nurse Cassidy Lynch, and everything changed.
From the moment Cassidy entered the room, she brought a calming presence and a genuine warmth that immediately put both my son and me at ease. She didn’t just treat me as her patient; she saw my son, acknowledged him, and went above and beyond to make him feel safe, respected, and included. She took time to speak gently with him, got down to his level, and explained things in a way that helped him understand what was happening. She never rushed, never made us feel like a burden, and never lost her kind and compassionate demeanor, even in the fast-paced ER environment.
What stood out most was how Cassidy intuitively met both our basic needs with dignity and care. When he began to feel overstimulated, she responded with incredible empathy—offering a warm blanket, creating a peaceful environment, and always maintaining a sense of calm that helped him regulate. She truly created a healing space, not just physically, but emotionally. For that short time, the hospital room felt safe, something we don’t often experience in these settings.
The most touching moment came when Cassidy’s shift ended. My son, who rarely connects with new people so quickly, looked up at me and said, “Can I go with her?” That one sentence said more than I ever could. It showed how deeply she made him feel seen, cared for, and loved.
Cassidy Lynch embodies everything the DAISY Award stands for. Her loving kindness, the dignity she shows in her care, and the trusting, healing relationships she builds are extraordinary. I am so grateful for her, and I truly believe she was meant to be the one caring for us that day.
