I work with Cassie at MGH and while taking care of a gentleman just recently who needed multiple blood transfusions and transfer to another hospital and island for care, he voiced concern about the bills and lack of insurance coverage. We were slow in the department and rather than just give him information, she took what could have been downtime for herself, she spent over an hour at this patient’s bedside helping him complete paperwork for Medicaid and other financial aid services. Cassie is 8 months pregnant, just back from COVID, and could have used any of those as an excuse to take it easy; but instead, she continues to put her patients first and give them incredibly compassionate, above the ordinary care every day. I feel blessed to be able to work beside her and she is an asset to this department.
