Cassie Kendrick, RN

I would like to nominate Cassie Kendrick for the DAISY Award- For Nursing Ethics. Cassie is an exceptional pediatric nurse. Her compassion and integrity consistently set the standard of care in the pediatric department, but most of all, she is a patient advocate for the youngest in our population. On a very busy night, she was sent a pediatric trauma patient, and she spoke up to ensure all charting was done correctly. There were some missed documentation and vital signs. She always acts with high moral character despite personal risk. She never has a problem making sure that patients receive the absolute best care and that the outcome is safe. Cassie's focus is to ensure her actions positively affect the department, following up on failed equipment, stocking, and including others to make it a better department. She works closely with our pediatric providers and has a wealth of knowledge. Cassie has also spoken out against departments she felt did not properly provide bedside care, which affected patient outcomes. Specifically, for a pediatric patient receiving Hi-Flow/Bi-Pap, the patient's Hi-Flow was not increased as it should have been, and Cassie called RT/Supervisor to make sure the patient was checked on and set to the correct settings.
