Cassie Ludwig is an exceptional nurse who has consistently provided outstanding care for patients in the Emergency Department. Cassie has completed Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner training and she uses these specialized skills to provide patient-centered, trauma-informed care for patients who present to the ED for sexual violence. During a follow-up phone call with a recent patient who was treated for sexual assault, the patient expressed an enormous amount of gratitude towards Cassie. The patient said Cassie made all the difference on one of the worst and most horrifying days of the patient’s life. The patient told me she felt safe and reassured with Cassie taking charge of her care. The patient also shared compliments from her support persons who were present throughout the ED visit as they were just as impressed with Cassie’s advocacy, compassion, and knowledge.
