She has made an incredible difference in not only this patient's life, but the family as well, during such a tragic time.
For WEEKS, I have watched this nurse care for a 15-year-old boy after a severely traumatic car accident. The young boy had a traumatic brain injury and from what I can tell, no one was certain of his prognosis. I have assisted this Nurse with his care from time to time and the whole situation is tear-jerking. However, the few times that I have worked with her, she has gone so far above and beyond to help this boy.
The professional, caring relationship she has built with the patient and his family is what every nurse should strive for with every patient. The time she has poured into this young boy has been so inspiring to me. I was working with her when she had the idea to help him sit up on the side of the bed for the first time, and she just continues to work with him to further improve his outcomes. She's been working with him for weeks to improve his strength, and yesterday with this Nurse’s help (and a few others) she helped this boy to stand and take a few steps for the first time since the accident.
Those in the room were brought to tears. I just think this nurse-patient relationship deserves some recognition. She has made an incredible difference in not only this patient's life, but the family as well, during such a tragic time. I really hope she can be rewarded a DAISY for the care she has provided here!
