Cat is an amazing nurse. The first month I transferred to this unit, she received recognition as the RN of the quarter. As I got to know her, it became exceedingly evident that she is a great nurse. At any given moment, she can tell you all about her patients in depth. She has a passion that she uses to advocate for the patient's needs while always remaining kind and compassionate. She takes the time to get to know her patients holistically and doesn't just focus on the patient's medical condition.
What compelled me to write this nomination was another nurse came to me and recognized Cat, which happens frequently. This other nurse was working next to Cat but they were not assigned as buddies. This nurse was very busy administering blood to one of her patients while her other patient was on end of life care and was quickly deteriorating. This nurse went into the room of the end of life patient and found Cat holding the patient's hand as their journey was quickly coming to an end. Cat continued to hold the patient's hand and said, "You are not alone". She stayed until the patient was completed their journey. This moment moved me and the other nurse to tears.
Cat is consistently passionate and trustworthy. She collaborates and works with her team to ensure that all patients are cared for. She is the gold standard on how nurses should practice. She is a very special person who can heal your heart, bodies, and souls. I believe Cat deserves to be recognized for her extraordinary nursing care. I cannot thank her enough for being a wonderful nurse!
