Catherina is a strong advocate and role model for patient safety. She serves as a safety coach and has identified countless near misses.
Catherina is an Extraordinary Nurse who demonstrates excellence in nursing, not only with the patients she cares for, but also with the nurses she mentors. She is a true exemplar of each of the PETALS values for our DAISY Criteria.
She is extremely passionate about quality improvement, and her energy and enthusiasm for improving patient care are contagious. She chairs both the CMC and ASH Nursing Quality Improvement Council, helping to drive improvements across our healthcare system. She is incredibly empathic and understands that nurses need to be mentored and supported through QI efforts. I have witnessed her spend countless hours mentoring and guiding front-line staff, from utilizing the PDSA methodology to collecting and analyzing data! She has built trusting relationships among these nurses and encouraged, motivated, and inspired them. Under her leadership, there have been many quality improvement projects completed this year. She encouraged and supported the CMC nurses to submit their work to the ASH quality awards, of which three won- more than any other hospital in our system!
She is also a strong advocate and role model for patient safety. She serves as a safety coach and has identified countless near misses. When she identifies a safety concerns, she always stops the line! She maintains a professional and supportive approach which allows her teammates to know she always has their back. Her authentic leadership, passion, and love for the nursing profession is palpable. She has touched the lives of so many, both patients and colleagues. She is a true example of a DAISY Nurse!
