My 50-year-old husband was admitted to the ED by ambulance at midnight. He was very unwell but was dealt with immediately. I left at 5 am when all tests were completed and returned a few hours later. Catherine was the nurse looking after my husband. From the moment I met her, she put me at ease and did everything to ensure my husband was comfortable. She was professional, empathetic, and kind at all times and dealt discreetly with more intimate issues. She was busy with many other patients in a crowded ED, but was always there, calm and caring when he needed her while also mentoring a student nurse. She was lucky to be under the wing of such a professional. In such a busy environment, Catherine acted like my husband was her only patient, always checking, medicating, reassuring, and adding humour to the situation. Thank you Catherine, any patient under your care is a very lucky one albeit in a situation they would rather not be in. Keep up the amazing work.
