Catie really impressed me with the dedication to her job and her patients. She was recently hired to our department and was put in charge of care coordination of Gyn/Oncology patients. I have observed her jump enthusiastically into her new role, learning everything she can about her new sub-specialty. When she encountered a newly diagnosed cancer patient who is an undocumented immigrant and does not speak English, she went out of her way to make sure the patient got the referrals and appointments needed and took the initiative to find out if there were any grants or funding sources to help pay for the patient's care. She was able to get a check for several hundred dollars for the patient to help pay for her medications and chemotherapy. Catie impresses me daily with her passion and dedication to her job. She is a fabulous nurse because of her amazing compassion, initiative, and enthusiasm for nursing and her patients.
