I don't have one specific story; I probably have a hundred of them. We've been on this cancer journey for 7 months; my husband and I. Cate has made herself available every weekend and some evenings. She cares about us and answers questions (even repeated ones) and listens to both of us. If she does not have an answer, she finds one or admits there is no answer she can give us.
If we have a problem, she helps us solve it. She says, "We have our ways." Meaning she'll find a way to help us, to move forward to a healthy solution or a cure. She will tell us not to do something which is as valuable as a solution to do something. She is the epitome of a researcher. I too am a researcher (have a doctorate in education) so I know what kind of urgency it takes in a person to seek, explore, and be tenacious to an answer. Dr. V would experience great loss without her. Her knowledge base is astounding to the smallest technicality. Thank you, Cate, you are one of the reasons my husband is still here.
