My mother is a Ukrainian refugee. She came here in March 2022 and speaks no English. To engage my mother and make her feel close to home, Cathy played her Ukrainian music while she worked with her. Cathy also taught us how to stretch my mom’s hands and arms to prevent her muscles from contracting. When we inquired about care options for my mother outside of the hospital system, not only did Cathy explain to us several formats, but she also provided us with printed information. Cathy went above and beyond to support my mother and me during her stay in the ICU, while providing care that was individualized and culturally responsive. Cathy has a big heart and is an Extraordinary Nurse. Thank you, Cathy!
