An employee at the Ramada Plaza Hotel and Cathy Corbita, a nurse from Texas who happens to be a guest at the hotel, rescued a 15-year old girl that nearly drowned Tuesday. Niagara Regional Police are saying the teenager is alive today thanks to the quick action from Ramada employee and Corbita.

The hotel housekeeper was making her rounds at the Ramada Plaza Hotel around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday when she saw people frantically moving about near the edge of the outdoor pool. A group of tourists from South Korea was pointing to the bottom of the pool; she said a language barrier prevented Bailey from fully understanding the situation until she saw a girl lying at the bottom of the pool.

The girl was on a trip with her South Korean school classmate. "An employee noticed a commotion around the pool. She looked in and saw the female lying on the bottom of the pool "she said. "She jumped in and pulled the girl out." "Around the same time another hotel guest Corbita a nurse from Texas came to help." "When they pulled her out she was unconscious and unresponsive and this patron administered CPR," The hotel housekeeper said she wouldn't call herself a hero, reserving that title for the nurse Corbita. "She's really the lifesaver in this whole thing. I may have pulled her out, but Corbita was the one who really saved her life".

The girl is alert and conscious, she is still in the pediatric critical care unit of the hospital being treated for complications as a result of a near drowning.
