I have had the great pleasure of being cared for by Cathy twice now. Her commitment to her patients is simply astonishing. She goes above and beyond at all times. On a ward where people are in extreme crisis in their lives having a nurse like her is vital. During this stay during my time on the ward, I was here as I was seriously wanting to end my life. Although all the staff were excellent, it was Cathy who stood out head and shoulders above the rest. Although she may be of advanced years, she took every opportunity to make sure I felt that I mattered. Her ability to get me to open up and talk about the deep things that mattered in a non-judgmental manner with such heartfelt compassion was truly life-altering.

Following on from this, her commitment to the basic care of patients should be an inspiration for any younger nurses. She anticipates people's needs prior to a patient even having to ask, and when a request is made, you never feel like you are putting her out. In conclusion, her unassuming grandmotherly loving nature should be acknowledged with the hospital’s highest honors.
