While I am an employee here, I am also the mom of a special needs child. We have been coming to CDC for almost 15 years now and Cathy has been a constant. She knows her patients so well and she comments on things they did when they were babies. Not one time have we been to CDC that Cathy has not made our day and more importantly, our daughter's. Last week on our annual visit Cathy asked her the usual questions, getting a peek into our daughter and her life and needs now. Without hesitation, Cathy introduced our daughter to another girl the same age with the same disability. Within 5 minutes they had compared struggles and were talking boy bands and fingernail colors. It was exactly what she needed, a new friend. Cathy sees more than a complex disability, she sees a young human with unique needs. We are and will be forever grateful for the impact she has had on our daughter's life.
