I wanted to thank you for your compassionate care of my mother during her admission. So many staff at OHSU were wonderful in their interactions with my family, I can't even begin to remember their names and contributions. Your care, in particular, stands out to me because of your kindness, knowledge of hospice care, and advocacy.
Even though I am a nurse practitioner, I have no expertise with the elderly and end of life care, as I have mostly worked in pediatrics and with young families. Additionally, how can we (even as nurses) be expected to be objective when it comes to our own families? I was feeling a lot of self-doubt about the decision to bring my mother out here for the end of her life, and her hospitalization was a very emotional experience for me. Your treatment of my mom and of me was exemplary and a model of excellence.
