Ms. Catrina White has been a member of the Atlanta VA Medical Center team for the past 9 years, serving veterans in the operating room and urology clinic. With 20 years of experience in surgical services, Ms. White provides care with a high level of expertise, knowledge, and skill. Her strong leadership abilities are evident in her daily work as the lead nurse in the fast-paced and demanding environment of the urology clinic. She is described as a resourceful problem solver and has the ability to convey a warm yet professional image. Ms. White is committed to ensuring optimal care to each and every veteran through patient advocacy and extensive medical knowledge.

The DAISY Award nomination was submitted by a veteran Ms. White cared for. The veteran wrote, "I have been a member of the Atlanta Veteran's Hospital for over 12 years. I have been a patient in your cardiac unit and now I am a patient in your urology unit. I have had a lot of experience with many nurses and some are very pleasant, understanding, and knowledgeable and do a great job. However, I found one nurse that stands out above the rest. She has the unique ability to make you feel relaxed and comfortable while she performs the BCG procedure. She has performed this procedure with me at least six times and there will be more in the future. I have to give this a lot of credit because this is not the kind of procedure that I would like to do all day long. However, Catrina continues to show her clinical skill, compassion and professionalism on a daily basis. If I was a doctor, this is the nurse that I would want by my side."
