Cayla made sure to do his footprints and the molds of his tiny feet. I think that if it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t have made it through this process.
During the hardest time of my life, Cayla was here supporting me and providing me with exceptional care. I was rushed to the Watertown Emergency Room with severely high blood pressure. At this point I was 27 weeks pregnant with my baby boy, R. After so many medications they were finally able to get my blood pressure down and transferred me to St. Mary’s Hospital. Upon arriving they couldn’t find my baby’s heartbeat. It was then decided I would be induced and give birth to my little boy. Obviously that’s not the way people want to give birth to a deceased baby, but the nurse who was with me the whole time (Cayla) was the best ever. It took me so long to dilate to where I needed to be. During the stay, Cayla came to see me on her day off to make sure I was doing okay. When I delivered my little boy she treated him as if he was still alive. She continued to tell me how perfect he was and how much he loved us. She even cried with us. She made sure to do his footprints and his molds of his tiny feet. I think that if it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t have made it through this process. With her energetic smile, she did everything she could to try and keep the spirits up. Cayla’s beyond perfect and she makes a great nurse. If anyone deserves this award it’s Cayla. I truly believe that she is so selfless and really cares about the job she does. Not even just the job, you can see the overall care and compassion she has for her patients. At my stay at the hospital, I didn’t feel like one of her patients, I felt that I had somebody who truly cared. Her showing she wasn’t afraid to cry really showed the type of person she is. There is no doubt in my mind that she doesn’t deserve this award. She’s the reason I can grieve the loss of my baby boy.
