CDR Jenny Burkett, Deputy Director of Nursing Services, was recognized on Friday, February 2nd, as the first recipient at Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune of the DAISY Nurse Leader Award. Similar to The DAISY Award given to nurses for outstanding service, the Nurse Leader Award recognizes those leaders who, through exemplary acts, demonstrate the Navy's core values- honor, courage and commitment. The award was a surprise to Burkett, who was commended by her colleagues for her commitment to not only outstanding patient care, but her attention to leading her staff as well. "It is a great honor to be recognized for the impact I make on others and patient care," CDR Burkett said. "I really love being a nurse and working here."
