All of the oncology nurses were wonderful, but Celeste was a shining star! At every opportunity, she made sure my pain was controlled and I was comfortable in my surroundings. She interacted with my husband in intellectual conversations and could get both of us to laugh when we needed it most. She also gave me helpful tips on dealing with the inconveniences of cancer therapy.
One day, after several days of isolation and pain and fever, Celeste recognized that I was about at my wit's end. She said, "I'm going to disconnect you from all of these devices so you can sit in the chair and be free of all constraints. Just take a break!" And I did. That did more for my mental health than any medicine in my IV could have done. For an hour, I was so happy!
Celeste doesn't just do her technical job well - she evaluates the whole person and does what she can to make the situation better. Her intuitive care makes her an exemplary nurse.
