Cera is one of the bright lights in our facility. She is continuously striving for excellence and encouraging others to meet her stick. As a result, she elevates whatever environment she is in. Additionally, Cera is an incredible role model as both a clinician and an educator/administrator. She carries herself with the utmost professionalism and is there for the staff. She makes time to ensure the staff are knowledgeable and competent and knows how to utilize the resources to create safe and efficient care environments for the patients we serve.
Although the job is not technically a bedside patient care role, she positively affects safety, improves care, and lifts staff morale with every interaction during the day. Cera not only has mentored a group of new OR nurses through a rigorous training program but has also been an invaluable resource to the newer educators in our unit. Cera never responds to a request for help with "no" - she is always willing to pitch in no matter what challenge is presented. She can be counted on to be an excellent problem solver, support person, and skilled helper whether the task is large or small.
Cera is also one of those nurses who will draw a firm line in the sand if patient safety or staff well-being is threatened. She has a broad knowledge base and ensures that her high standards are passed on to her staff through education and supportive counsel. Cera's professionalism is admirable and if I were to detail her personal accomplishments, there would not be enough room on this form.
Outside of the hospital, Cera carries her professionalism and work ethic. She impressively was selected to be a presenter at AORN, which was sadly canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. That didn't stop Cera though from channeling her work into something to aid the pandemic and she took a certain degree of personal risk to help open the LA Surge Hospital. There she helped to train the staff on how to protect themselves when treating patients who have COVID-19.
Cera does this incredible work all while finding time to continue her education and molding herself into an even more impressive and deserving nurse, serving as a loving mother to her son and daughter, to her parents, raising two Labradoodles, doing yoga and being an all-around amazing person.
I truly aspire to be like Cera, she exemplifies what it is to be an excellent nurse and I believe that she is a true DAISY Nurse!
