My son was diagnosed with a heart condition at 21 weeks, meaning he was unlikely to survive. We had to make the difficult decision to end the pregnancy. Ceri took over my care when my labour had already begun, she made sure that both me and my husband had the best experience possible on the worst day of our lives. When our son was born it was unclear if he was alive or not. We had made the decision that if he was alive and struggling we didn’t want to see him dying. Ceri took H to a side room to examine him and realised he was still alive and peaceful. She decided to bring him back to us so that we could meet our baby boy whom we were able to hold and love before he peacefully passed away after four hours. Ceri was the best midwife we could have asked for in those circumstances. She was exceptionally kind and compassionate. She had the knowledge and the expertise to coach me through the worst few hours of my life. She helped me make informed decisions about my and H’s care. We will be eternally grateful for everything she did for us. We cannot explain how thankful we are for her. H only met 5 people during his short time with us, he was lucky that one of those was Ceri. She deserves the highest praise and thanks we can give her.
