Yesterday, Cesar received a patient who had not seemed sick in screening; but when Cesar assumed care of the patient after she was roomed, he recognized that she was actually very sick and called me right away to let me know. It turned out this patient had rapidly progressing Fournier's gangrene and was septic and got redlined to the OR.
Thanks to his excellent clinical acumen and care, the patient was able to get appropriate care in a rapid manner. He got her to the CT scanner immediately, started the fluids and antibiotics and overall did an excellent job providing care.
I have had multiple patients for whom Cesar was the nurse and they all have had wonderful things to say to me about his care. He is diligent, compassionate, caring and gets the job done. Working with nurses like Cesar makes me look forward to work every day.
