Chad had been caring for one of our COVID isolated patients in critical care. The patient was intubated and had been in Crit for 23 days. When Chad learned it was their 25th Wedding Anniversary, he went into action to make it special for them. He made arrangements for his patient's spouse to visit. When the patient's spouse came to the room, Chad had turned the bed towards the glass door so they could both see each other. Chad had a white dry erase board at the patient's bedside that read “Happy 25th Anniversary […] Love, […]. He had placed a single red rose next to the sign. He also purchased flowers, a Mylar balloon, and a card for staff to sign. Chad had set a chair outside of the patient's room with a box of tissues in anticipation of the emotional moment when they saw their spouse. Our nurses always give 100% especially to be recognized during the pandemic. It's these extra acts of compassion that truly touch hearts.
