COVID-19 impacted everyone at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center. Our unit became known as the COVID floor. With this huge responsibility and task, safety continued to be our #1 priority. Chanelle Tang was the backbone of our unit during this time and instrumental to the success of the 1st floor to 6th-floor move. She took the initiative to come in on her off days to help lead the team, organize and develop meetings with leadership to discuss challenges, policies, and procedures. She went above and beyond her role as Charge Nurse. Her presence, confidence, and positive attitude allowed us to meet this challenge head-on! Chanelle also provided real-time education to staff, assisted with PPE management, and advocated for the team. She collaborated with various departments including Transport, Dietary, and Phlebotomy to provide educational resources. A simple “thank you” just isn’t enough. Chanelle allowed us to continue to care for our patients uninterrupted while she handled the hard work. Thank you, Chanelle Tang!
